Two Book Stand Designs that Work Well

A book stand is a amazing aid for any true lover of books. Currently marketed designs vary from simple wire creations such as the Fold’N'Stow that supports a book at adjustable angles on any flat surface, to the ultimately sophisticated LEVO Bookholder that embraces a book or other reading material in either a floor stand design or a clamp-on model that easily fastens to just about any table, desk, or counter top. Many book stand models work best with hardcovers, but they also can work very nicely with paperback books mounted in book holders like an OpenPage.

The Fold’N'Stow is one of the most affordable of book stands. It folds virtually flat and comes with it’s own convenient pouch punched for easy use in a three ring binder. It may be placed on a counter top for cook books, or the top of your desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page keepers extend out from the back to hold the covers and open pages of your book, and, by adjusting how far apart the arms are, smaller and larger books may be easily accommodated. The back of the stand has horizontal pieces that can be moved to vary the angle at which the book is held relative to the surface upon which it is resting.

The most popular model of the LEVO book stand is the LEVO floor standing model, which features a weighted base on casters for easy movement from chair side to bedside to desk side to beside the kitchen counter top. Wherever you choose to put it, it will support in virtually any position. With a bookboard which can be adjusted into virtually any position, and combined with a book mounting mechanism that will securely hold your book or other reading material, even in an inverted position, the LEVO makes reading truly hands-free practically anywhere.

The LEVO Clamp On design is just as convenient as its floor standing sibling, but provides a clamp that firmly attaches to just about any table, desk, work bench, counter top or other flat surface up to two inches thick, and provides identical movements as the floor stand model, without the range of telescoping movements vertically. By keeping your reading materials up off the surface to which it is secured, the desk model saves the weight and expense of the rolling floor base while still freeing up work space, since neither your book nor your book holder rest on the surface.

Even though there are other book stand designs now available, the Fold’N'Stow and LEVO book stands have stood the test of time and hold up well to long term use.
