Pfaff 130 Sewing Machine Review
Unlimited creativity, timelessness, and superior quality are just a few qualities of Pfaff 130 sewing machine.
You can still find a working piece since this is one of the few sewing machines that survived the test of time. It was introduced to the world during the 1950s and it was first home semi industrial sewing machine (some parts are fitting for industrial use). An obvious example is the presence of a location where you can attach the motor.
Pfaff 130 sewing machine stitches include zigzag, reverse, and straight stitches. Also it has a rotary bobbin, which smoothness the stitches on the fabric.
There are many advantages of Pfaff 130 sewing machine but to name a few:
1. It can last for a very long time.
It’s body is made of very durable materials. This basically allows them to last for very long-even for 50 years.
2. It’s needles are much stronger than other standard sewing equipment.
The Pfaff 130 sewing machine uses stronger needles, which don’t break even when you make use of it on thicker or bulkier fabrics.
3. You can convert it to a treadle sewing machine.
If you’re so used to working with the treadle you can modify the motor of Pfaff 130 sewing machine and transform it into a hand crank.
4. The manuals are very helpful and are available everywhere.
The manuals of 130 sewing machine from Pfaff are cheap and very handy. You can find a new manual for a very low price because now days there are a lot of dealers and web sites that are selling authorized reproductions of it’s original manual.
Some people may say that Pfaff 130 sewing machine has some disadvantages. For instance it’s not a modern sewing machine and it’s bulky and absolutely not portable. But anything that can survive over 50 years of usage disserves a title “World’s best sewing machines in the history!”
Is there a difference between 130 and 130-6? Are the original motors the same power on all Pfaff 130′s? What is the pfaff 230? Thanks for any help you can provide. MABird
Please, I would love to find the answers to the above questions. I have two 130′s and they are different. One has a motor made in Japan and machine has a large “hump” on the backside with the stitch changers accessible with hand dials that are attached to the front controls.-made in Kaiserslaughten Germany. The other has a Pfaff motor but no “hump” also made in K,Germany. Why are they different? Who has a service manual or just a manual for the 130 with the “hump” on back?
Thanks, Cecilia
Actually, I would like to add to the mystery…
just found a Pfaff 130-6 with an attachment on the back. It is about 7″x2.5″x2″ and is tied into the stitch dial by means of a rod under the machine arm.
Any ideas, as it is not listed in my instruction manual or pictured. It was made in Kaiserslauten Germany.
Thank You,
Cecilia
i just got a 230, and the lady said on hers there was a coffee grinder attached to the back somehow, she didnt know why, it was just a weird thing, so she had it taken off and a light put on…
I have a pfaff-130-6 machine. It was my grandmas machine-atreadle-and we had it converted to a commercial power machine. Runs great!!! Does anyone know what price range we should ask for it?? thank you!!
I NEED ALL MODEL IMAGES
Hey ! I just got a Pfaff 130 (serial number 4 425 558). It runs great, its in good condition, came with a case, and was made in Germany. Unfortunately it didn’t come with a manual but it would be great to have one. Dose any one know where I can get one? Also, can anyone tell me what the actual price range ( I saw it on eBay every where from $10 to $280)? If anyone can answer my questions it would be very much appreciated.

I have a Pfaff Model #130-6-A, purchased by my parents in January, 1955. It is in very good condition…, has all of the attchments (for embroidering, buttonholes, etc).. was just cleaned/serviced about 1 1/2 years ago… runs great….. It is in a Mahogany cabinet built by my father who was a cabinet maker…
I would like to know what the value of the machine is at this time (& possibly the machine & the cabinet).
Thank you,
Barb Moore
I just purchase a Pfaff 130-6 at an estate sale, all original, from the manuel, extra parts and certificate of lifetime guarentee. It is in a 1950′s cabinet which the chair pushes in and looks like a dresser rather than a sewing cabinet. Very well taken care of by original owner, any info on what its worth?
I am trying to find the value of a PFAFF Model 130 Serial# 5070570 that is in the original cabinet. Any help would be appreciated.
hi all
i also have a Pfaff 130 sewing machine, inherited from my gran. still in beautiful working order. it is in it’s original red leather case on a solid wood stand, as well as the original manual. Would love to pass it on to someone who could put it to better use than i can.
Anyone with a Pfaff-130 with the gear box on the back that attaches via a lever to the front dial is a rarer model called the Pfaff 130 Dial-A-Stitch. I was fortunate enough to purchase one such machine in 1993 – never used – at an antique store. Fortunately it came with the original printing of the Pfaff 130 manual (which does not describe the workings of the gear box) AND a plastic selector wheel that shows the stitches that each combination of the gear box levers makes. The decorative stitches are cool in a retro way, but after 18 years with this wonderful workhorse of a sewing machine, I can count on one hand the times I have used the decorative Dial-A-Stitch settings.
I would be interested in buying a Pfaff 130.
I kept hearing about how wonderful the Pfaff 130 was for years but they were being sold at such high prices. I saw one in the original cabinet with attachments for $150.00. I would like the “coffee Grinder” for it as that makes the different embroidery designs. I am downsizing my machines and am keeping the Pfaff 130, a Singer 15-91 and my HV Designer II. That will be a far cry from my 11 machines right now. Pfaff designed a good machine when they made the 130.
IMy daughter was given her grandmother’s Pfaff 130-6 sewing machine in an oak cabinet. I would like to have it serviced and cleaned for her Christmas present. Is there anyone in northwest Ohio that does this kind of work? Thank you
Hi,
Can someone can help out…I have a Pfaff 130 sewing machine. When i’m sewing the under thread is too loose. I tried to fix it but with no luck… What I did was to take the bobbing case out of the machine and tightened the small tension screw (Z) in a clockwise direction. I already adjusted it and the problem continue. Does someone know what is the real problem and what should I do?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
