It will not be wrong to mention that Pfaff overlock is truly a combination of three different Pfaff sewing machines. As a matter of fact, sewing machine is a misnomer for Pfaff sewing machines as they are designed to perform many other activities apart from sewing. And, that is especially true for Pfaff overlock machines.
As some of you be unfamiliar with Pfaff overlock machine, I should mention here is the function of an pfaff creative overlock machine. An overlock sewing machine is designed to stitch the edges of one or two pieces of cloth to deliver edges, seams and or hems. Very often an pfaff overlocker machine is used for cutting the edges of cloth that can be fed to the machine. Such machines are known as pfaff serger machines.
It’s not uncommon for overlocking machine to be called as overedging, serging or merrowing. However, strictly speaking serging refers to overlocking using cutters and scissors. It is interesting to learn that the work “merrowing” was coined by the company that invented overlocking. An American company, named The Merrow Machine Company, first invented overlock stitching in 1881.
